Perhaps you are staying away from home this Thanksgiving, or maybe you’re just looking to get out of the house and avoid the long hours of prep and washing up that comes with hosting a big family get-together – either way, we have curated the best restaurants in Chicago for a special Thanksgiving dinner experience to remember.
- Longman and Eagle
Located in the Logan Square neighborhood of the city, this hip restaurant and bar serves up classic Chicago inn-style fare with a contemporary twist. The regular menu will be on offer on Thanksgiving day, so you can try a delicious roast in keeping with the season such as the duck breast with caramelized fennel, foie gras emulsion, orange and crispy skins, or if you are after a more non-traditional dish why not go for something more adventurous like the cauliflower and lentil curry with raita, mango and mint. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations so expect a wait at busy times, but the result is oh-so worth it. After you’re done with dinner, you can sit back and relax with a drink in the bar which stays open, even on Thanksgiving, until 2am!
- Cindy’s
This spectacular rooftop restaurant is the perfect setting for a special Thanksgiving meal, offering panoramic views of Millennium Park, the Art Institute and Lake Michigan. Family-style meals are on offer during Thanksgiving, with a meal for two people costing $60, or $120 for four people. A whole range of delicious, traditional hot dishes will be on offer, including roasted shaved turkey breast and braised leg and thigh, all accompanied by cranberry aigre doux, cast-iron cornbread, apple sage stuffing, whipped potato, and glazed haricot vert. And of course what would Thanksgiving be without dessert? Feast on a traditional pumpkin pie, or for a twist on the classic try Cindy’s special pumpkin chocolate chip whoopie pie. The kitchen is open between 11am and 7pm, with the last seating at 6pm – reservations are highly recommended.
- Baptiste and Bottle
If you are in favor of shirking the traditional turkey dinner, why not head down to the Conrad Hotel’s stylish restaurant Baptiste and Bottle for a Thanksgiving Day brunch like no other? At $85 per person ($40 for kids) this buffet brunch doesn’t come cheap, but you will be offered a spectacular array of incredible dishes to choose from, including oysters with Champagne mignonette and caviar, crab claws, sushi, and black garlic crusted prime rib with pommes dauphinoise. There are also some classic Thanksgiving staples on offer, and a delectable dessert station that includes festive favorites such as pecan, apple, and pumpkin pies. The buffet is served 12pm – 7pm on Thanksgiving Day.
- Shaw’s Crab House
If seafood is more your thing, get yourself a booking at Shaw’s Crab House which is hosting a Thanksgiving buffet between 11am and 8pm. Chicago’s premier seafood restaurant and oyster bar is offering family-friendly seasonal specials along with its classic seafood dishes to add a touch of distinction to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
