The Best Things to Do in Chicago This Summer

Chicago, Illinois is the third-largest city in the United States in terms of population. While the city is known for being cold and windy during the winter months, the summer months are quite warm and enjoyable. This makes Chicago a great place to visit during the summer. If you are looking to take a trip to Chicago during the summer, there are several activities in particular you should make sure to include in your trip.

Architectural Boat Tour

Chicago has one of the most interesting architectural histories in the United States. Due to the Great Chicago Fire over 100 years ago, there is a big mix of historical buildings and new construction. Today, there are a variety of architectural boat tours that will give you a great glimpse and educational history of the Chicago architecture. This will also give you a great opportunity to enjoy a nice boat ride on either the Chicago River or Lake Michigan.

Concerts

If you enjoy going to concerts and seeing live music, the summer in Chicago is the best place to be. One of the most popular music events in the country each year is Lollapalooza, which takes place in August at Grant Park. Beyond that, there are a number of live venues located all over the city that bring in a strong mix of local acts and nationally renowned bands.

Street Festivals

Similar to other large cities, there are a number of very popular street festivals that take place in Chicago all summer long. Whenever you choose to visit the city, there are bound to be a number of great festivals going on. At these events you can enjoy some local food and music, purchase locally sourced arts and crafts, and experience some of the more unique neighborhoods in the city.

Cubs Game

When you are coming into Chicago over the summer, another must is to go to a Chicago Cubs game. The Chicago Cubs play all of their home games at iconic Wrigley Field, which is located about 5 miles north of downtown Chicago. Even if you are not a big baseball fan, the beautiful stadium and people watching make it worth the trip. Furthermore, the area around the stadium is full of shopping, dining, and nightlife options for you to choose from.

Millennium Park

Millennium Park is a public park located just east of Chicago downtown. This part is more than 25 acres in size and includes a number of great playgrounds, lounge areas, restaurants, and the iconic Chicago Bean. This park is always full of great people watching and is a great place to spend an afternoon.

While Chicago can be a great place to visit during the summer and there are plenty of fun things to do, it can also be a hectic place to get around. To make it easier, hiring a Chicago limo service could be a great option. When hiring a limo service Chicago visitors will be assured that they will get around the city safely and quickly to ensure their trip is as memorable as possible.
