Nothing really prepares you for your own wedding, even if you are a wedding planner. There’s a high probability that some friends and relatives will be traveling quite a distance to attend your nuptials, and your role (no matter how busy you are) is to ensure that they feel welcomed and entertained during their stay. You might very well have a million things to handle on your to-do list, so we’ve taken the opportunity to list down some things you can do to ensure that your guests feel right at home:
Detail, details, details. Although there is such a thing as too many details, you’ll need to provide your guests with enough. Nowadays, technology has enabled us to send e-invitations, but you might also want to offer an offline version to those who prefer it that way. Ensure that key times, venues, what to wear, available activities, and other important details are available to them. For those who intend to stay for a longer period, you might even want to throw in a little mini-guide to help them out.
Weddings are usually centered on the bride and groom and their immediate family, but that doesn’t mean the other guests on the list aren’t important too. It’s going to be a pretty daunting task for you and your partner but do make sure to set enough time aside during the reception to greet everyone personally. After all, if they’ve made the effort to travel all the way to be at your side, the least you can do is to thank them for it.
Thoughtful gifts can be given at any time, but you can always have it arranged at their booked accommodations to shower them with a little surprise. Of course, you’ll have to discuss what to give them with your partner, and it’s really dependent on your available resources. From homemade brownies to a fresh fruit basket and even a bottle of bubbly, it’s all up to you.
You might have your hands full leading up to the big day, and though that will probably involve a few other key people, the majority of your guests will probably have plenty of free time. For those arriving a few days earlier, you can always plan an informal wedding reception. If they’ll prefer to spend time on their own, you can also provide them with a handy roster of interesting locations and things to do.
For out of town guests flying in, it’s likely that at least some of them will want to rent a car to get around in during their stay. Rather than going to different car rental companies, why not leave it to our Chicago limo service instead? We’re no strangers to special occasions and large gatherings, and with our fleet of ultra-comfortable vehicles on hand, you can rest assured that your guests will have something else to look forward to during their stay here.
