- Chicago Christmas Tree at Milennium Park
This spectacular 62-foot spruce based in Chicago’s Millennium Park will be sure to amaze all the family. The tree was specially selected from over 70 different entries by growers and residents across the region, and will be the 104th Official Christmas Tree the city has seen. The official lighting ceremony took place on November 18, but visitors can see the spectacular tree and take to the ice at the nearby skating rink right through the holiday season.
- Brookfield ZooLights
Brookfield plays host to the largest and oldest lights festival in the Chicago area, where visitors can marvel at over one million lights on display, carollers, special laser shows, ice carvers, a 41-foot talking tree, magicians, and Santa, amongst many other attractions. Many of the zoo’s usual exhibits are open until 8pm too, so you can get up close with a whole host of interesting animals whilst getting into the holiday spirit. The ZooLights event takes place from 4pm – 9pm on various dates throughout December.
- Magnificent Mile
This upscale Chicago shopping area features an incredible light display during the festive period, including over one million lights on 200 different trees spread down this mile-long stretch of Michigan Avenue. - Winter Wonderfest at Navy Pier
Returning for its 17th year, Winter Wonderfest is open at Chicago’s Navy Pier December 1 through January 7, giving visitors plenty of opportunity to enjoy its festive, family-friendly attractions. There is over 170,000 feet of holiday fun to enjoy, including a beautiful skating rink lit with a canopy of twinkling lights, a 42-foot Christmas Tree, and a variety of Winter-themed activities including Winter-tubing, Arctic Express train rides, an Ice Peaks climbing wall, Kringle Carousel, and Winter Rules mini golf amongst many more! Ticket prices vary from $10 - $25 depending on the activities you choose.
- Macy’s Holiday Windows
A Chicago tradition, each year Macy’s holiday windows attract thousands of shoppers with their spectacular displays and twinkling lights. Take a few photos and send to your friends to get them in the festive mood, then head inside to warm up and check out the incredible giant tree in the Walnut Room restaurant or go on up to the fifth floor to Santaland where kids can meet the man himself. The holiday displays and Santaland run all through December.
