Best Way to Watch New Year’s Fireworks in Chicago

It’s only right that you want to start the New Year off with a bang, so what better way to ring in 2018 than with a spectacular fireworks display. Luckily, Chicago has one of the nation’s finest on offer, so wrap up warm with friends and family and head down to Navy Pier in our luxurious Chicago limo service to really see in the New Year with style. Here are just a few of our favorite ways to watch the fireworks for a truly magnificent, memorable evening…

  • Watch them from Navy Pier

Access to Navy Pier to watch the fireworks from the best vantage point is completely free of charge, so you can bring the whole family down to celebrate without having to fork out huge sums of money for tickets on one of the most expensive nights of the year! Just be sure to wrap up warm – the fireworks take place between midnight and 12.15am, however you’ll want to get there early to get the best spot to view them. The pier itself is open from 10am on New Years Eve.

  • Go to one of the bars or restaurants

If you’re not too keen on spending hours outside in the freezing cold, then why not make a reservation at one of the bars or restaurants that line the pier who are operating special opening hours during the festivities. Billy Goat Tavern, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, DMK Burger Bar & Fish Bar, and Riva are all open until at least 1am, so you can enjoy some celebratory drinks in cozy comfort before watching the spectacular main event at midnight.

  • Go on a cruise

For a unique way to experience the magic of New Years Eve, you can opt for one of the special cruises that run from Nay Pier on the night. There is a special family brunch cruise from 10am to 1.30pm – perfect if you have younger ones with you who are unlikely to make it up ‘til midnight! Alternatively, you can celebrate at midnight itself whilst cruising around Lake Michigan, looking back at the spectacular fireworks set against the backdrop of the city when the ball drops. The Spirit of Chicago and Odyssey cruises both start at 9.30pm and offer a selection of seasonal dishes to savor… and plenty of champagne too!

  • Attend the Chicago Resolution Gala

The Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier plays host to the 6th annual Chicago Resolution Gala, where over 3,000 guests will gather to see in the New Year in style. The main ballroom features incredible views of Lake Michigan and back over the city skyline itself, and is the perfect vantage point to watch the awe-inspiring fireworks display in opulent, spectacular surroundings. There will be over 30 bars serving drinks throughout the venue, a whole host of buffet sections, complimentary champagne at midnight, and DJs to keep you on the dance floor right through the night, so you can see in the New Year in true VIP-style!
